Segundino Zapanta was born in Guiwan, Zamboanga City, Philippines in the early 1900's. His father was Ramon Gaganting Cruz. He married Candi Jalon of Sangali, Zamboanga City, Philipines.

There is a little twist to the story of the union of Segundino and Candi. Candi Jalon, the daughter of Jacinta Ramillano was half-sister of Juliana Ramillano on the mother side. Now, Segundino Zapanta who was the son of Ramon Gaganting Cruz is a half-brother of Juliana Ramillano on the father side.

So as far as Juliana Ramillano was concerned, her brother married her sister. However, her sister (Candi) was not related to her brother (Segundino) at all and vice-versa.
