Dietary supplement is a product that contains vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, enzymes, and/or other ingredients intended to supplement the diet. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has special labeling requirements for dietary supplements and treats them as foods, not drugs.

Manufacturers and distributors of dietary supplements and dietary ingredients are prohibited from marketing products that are adulterated or misbranded. Wars of ancient history were about possessions, territory, power, control, family, betrayal, lover's quarrel, politics and sometimes religion.

But we are in the Modern era and supposedly more educated and enlightened .

Think about this. Don't just brush off these questions.

  • Why is RELIGION still involved in WARS? Isn't religion supposed to be about PEACE?
  • Ask yourself; What religion always campaign to have its religious laws be accepted as government laws, always involved in wars and consistently causing WARS, yet insists that it's a religion of peace?

WHY??

There are only two kinds of people who teach tolerance:
  1. The Bullies. They want you to tolerate them so they can continue to maliciously deprive you. Do not believe these bullies teaching tolerance, saying that it’s the path to prevent hatred and prejudice.
  2. The victims who are waiting for the right moment to retaliate. They can’t win yet, so they tolerate.

Provide quality education for the youth -- Mamac

By Reynaldo G. Navales

ANGELES CITY --- A village chief in this city has underscored the need to provide quality education for the youth.

Rodelio “Tony” Mamac, chairman of Barangay Balibago, said this during the distribution of scholarship certificates to more than 500 high school students yesterday.

Parents and guardians of scholars attended the distribution of the certificates.

Mamac said the program, dubbed Barangay Balibago Scholarship Assistance Program, was launched in 2009.

“We already produced engineers, teachers, social workers, and this coming April, some 22 barangay scholars will graduate from college hopefully all with honors,” the village chief said.

Mamac’s wife Tess, councilors Haron Tecson, Ando Yambao, and Bong Reyes, Mancom Head Nards Nicdao, Youth Leader AJ Agudo and other school and barangay officials attended the ceremony.

Angeles City conferred excellence awards for health

By Marna Dagumboy Del Rosario (PNA)

ANGELES CITY—The Angeles City government has proven once again its excellence in providing health services to the community after receiving recognition in Tuesday’s 6th Central Luzon Excellence Awards for Health (CLExAH) 2017 of the Department of Health (DOH).

Three awards were given to the city -- the Animal Bite Treatment Center (ABTC) Quality Service Award, Consistency in Field Health Services Information System (FHSIS) Reports Submission for the year 2017, and Pulang Laso Excellence Award.

“We promise to continue the programs that our department created for the different medical needs of our people. This recognition is a manifestation of our hardwork and dedication in delivering the best public health service to the Angeleños,” health officer Dr. Lenario Santos said.

Dr. Hernand Tulud, ABTC head, said the zero rabies-related deaths from 2012 to 2016 and the complete medications provided for the animal bite victims paved the way for winning the Quality Service Award.

“We are very thankful to the local government under the leadership of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan. We are proud to say that the ABTC in Angeles City is the only center which provides the full course of medication to the patients and it is free of charge,” Tulud said.

The second award was obtained with the prompt and consistent submission of health data reports to the regional and national offices.

Pulang Laso Excellence Award, on the other hand, was given to Juan Positive Movement Association Inc., a community-based organization in partnership with the DOH and the local government in Angeles City which shares awareness and treatment plans to HIV-positive individuals.

The organization aims to bridge the gap between the HIV victims and the treatment hubs where education about HIV and AIDS and free testing are offered.

“The doors of our treatment facility, the Bale Angeleño Reproductive Health and Wellness Center (RHWC) in Balibago, are open. Our satellite hubs are available to serve the people of the city especially to individuals who fear the public stigma on people living with HIV/AIDS,” RHWC head Dr. Verona Guevarra said.

For his part, Mayor Pamintuan lauded the efforts of the city’s health and medical personnel for always giving “the best foot forward” in the name of public service.

“These awards are proof of all of our hardwork and we do not stop here. We will continue serving our people with the optimum public health care service they truly deserve,” the mayor said.

With the theme, “Sustaining Excellence in Health in 2017 and beyond…” the CLExAH 2017 aims to recognize the efforts of all the doctors and nurses in Central Luzon who have been continuously delivering quality medical services to the people.

Ospital ning Angeles acquires additional ambulances

(SunStar Pampanga)

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno led the turnover ceremony of two new ambulances to the Ospital ning Angeles (ONA) on Monday at the city hall compound.

“Our emergency response team can now accommodate more patients with the new ambulances. We are very thankful to our local government for extending help and assistance to our hospital and patients,” said Dr. Rodel Dungca, ONA officer-in-charge.

“Mayor Ed Pamintuan gave our people hope in establishing ONA because people can now have a place to go to for their medical needs where they don’t have to worry about the high cost of services in private hospitals,” Dungca furthered.

In 2017, there was an average of 700 patients per month and 200 to 300 consultations per day in ONA.

Just recently, ONA has acquired four additional hemodialysis machines for the Renal Care Unit. This was made possible after the city was recognized for the 2016 Seal of Good Local Governance award given by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Another recognition given to ONA is the Best Practices in Infection Prevention Control. It was given during the 68th annual national convention of the Philippine Hospital Association (PHA). ONA has passed the standards in terms of cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control.

Pamintuan expressed his gratitude to all the people working in ONA for being able to give people their best efforts.

“For years, people have been putting their trust to the Ospital ning Angeles. This is because of our hardworking doctors, nurses, and staffs who continually deliver quality service for the medical needs of the Angeleños,” said Pamintuan.

Angeleño seniors get social pension

By Reynaldo Navales

SOME 859 indigent senior citizens in Angeles City received on Thursday, February 8, their P1.4-million social pension from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

The elderly who are not receiving any social pension from the government received P1,500 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), said Social Welfare Officer Joy Duaso.

The P1.4-million budget allocation which was turned over to Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan during the full council meeting of the Regional Development Council–Central Luzon covers the senior citizens’ pension for the fourth quarter of 2017.

As specified in Republic Act 9994 or the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010, the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens (SPISC) is an additional government assistance aiming to improve the condition of indigent senior citizens by augmenting their daily subsistence and medical needs, and reduce incidence of hunger, as well as protect them from neglect, abuse, deprivation and natural and man-made disasters.

Pursuant to the eligibility criteria as may be determined by the DSWD, indigent senior citizens shall be entitled to a monthly stipend amounting to P500 to augment their daily subsistence and other medical needs.

Natividad Llaneta, 80, who has been residing alone in a resettlement site in Barangay Sapalibutad, said she is currently reliant to the assistance extended by her neighbors.

She said the social pension is a great help to suffice her everyday needs.

“Gagamitin ko po ito sa aking araw-araw na pangangailangan dahil ako nalang ang mag-isa sa bahay. Lahat ng pangangailangan ko sa bahay, iyan [social pension] ang inaasahan ko,” Llaneta said.

To determine the beneficiaries, the CSWD chief said the agency is “in constant coordination with all the 33 villages of the city, as well as the city’s frontline offices, the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (Osca).”

“Our village councils and the Osca provides us their master list of all senior citizens in their respective area of jurisdiction. The CSWDO will then screen them accordingly to determine if they are qualified to receive the social pension or not,” Duaso said.

Elena Santos, 70, also from Barangay Sapalibutad, said she has been receiving the regular social pension for three years now. She added that their barangay council motivated her to avail herself of the said social annuity distributed by the DSWD.

“Masuwerte po kami dahil nabibigyan po kami ng gobyerno ng pang-gastos sa araw-araw lalo na at matatanda na kami at hindi na namin kaya ang maghanap-buhay pa,” Santos said.

In 2017, the DSWD allocated P17.9 billion for the program to benefit more than 2.8 million senior citizens throughout the country.

Water shortage puts 2 Angeles City villages in state of calamity

By Ric Sapnu (PNA)

ANGELES CITY -- Members of the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (ACDRRMC) chaired by Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan have placed Barangays Sapangbato and Margot under a state of calamity due to an acute shortage of water supply.

The pronouncement was made on Thursday by Acting Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno in the presence of the members of the body with the representatives from the city council, concerned villages, public health and safety sector, and water utility service providers.

In recent weeks, residents can only get water from their faucets from 9 p.m. to 12 midnight.

According to Angeles City Water District (ACWD), they purchased their water supply from Clark Water Corporation (CWC), which reduced its water allocation to these two barangays by more than 50 percent.

CWC head for Business Operations Joe-jit Velasquez, however, said that the corporation did not drastically cut the water supply in the said barangays.

In fact, Velasquez said the CWC still services the villages at 512 cubic meters of water for Sapangbato (servicing from 9 p.m. to 12 midnight) and 42 cubic meters of water for Margot (servicing from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.).

“In as much as we want to continue the services of the CWC to the constituents of Angeles City, the water supply is really not enough. We have to cut short our water supply until such time that we can fully recover,” Velasquez said.

City Administrator Dennis Albert Pamintuan said the water utility service companies and the ACDRRMC should plan immediate interventions and long-term solutions since the residents were now faced with health problems.

The ACWD, for its part, vowed to expedite the purchase and the construction of additional water pumps which are to be put up in each of the two heavily affected villages.

Representatives from the ACWD said that the pumps need three to four months to be erected and to be fully operational.

While the construction is ongoing, the city government has called on all the water utility service providers in the city and asked them to provide water tankers where each can deliver up to 200 cubic meters per day.

There are at least seven water tankers servicing the two barangays with non-stop rations.

The CWC, on the other hand, vowed to extend its water supply servicing hours from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight.

The city government will also convene its Water Resources Board to create a technical working group to find solution to the crisis.

Spring Festival promotes One Belt-One Road Initiative

By Shane F. Velasco (CLJD/SFV-PIA 3)

ANGELES CITY (PIA) -- Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (Youxie) and Association for Philippine-China Understanding (APCU) conducted Friday the second leg of their Chinese Spring Festival celebration at SM City Clark.

It featured cultural performances, visual arts, and traditions meant to promote the One Belt-One Road (OBOR) infrastructure initiative of the People’s Republic of China.

Introduced in 2013 by Chinese President Xi Jinping, OBOR seeks to improve understanding, respect and appreciation of the cultures from Belt and Road countries, as well as advancing friendly exchanges between the peoples.

China seeks to build a modern Silk Road by assisting many countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe in building seaports, roads, and railways.

In the Philippines, Former President and current Pampanga 2nd district representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo hailed President Rodrigo Duterte for embracing OBOR.

“This is a parallel platform for the growth of the region. It will be used to stimulate growth and improve market access as it facilitates connectivity and provides funding for the administration’s Build-Build-Build Infrastructure Program,” Arroyo added.

Under the OBOR, China has committed to fund the Subic-Clark Cargo Railway, a Flood Control Project in Metro Manila that will also benefit the town of Obando and city of Meycauayan in Bulacan, Binondo-Intramuros Bridge in Manila, and the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge in Mandaluyong City. It is also looking to fund the Mindanao Railway Project.

Youxie is an agency created by China's State Council and supervised by the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

It is mandated to promote friendly people-to-people ties between China and other countries through cultural and academic exchange, city sisterhood, visits to and from China, and conferment of Friendship Ambassador title on distinguished friendship personalities.

Youxie has set up ties with nearly 500 non-governmental organizations and agencies in 157 countries.

Its recognized affiliate in Philippines is APCU with the establishment and operations of which predated the forging of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and China.

It was just reactivated last year to enhance the much improved ties between the two countries with Arroyo as National Chairman. It has chapters in Baguio, Cebu, and Davao.

Farmers benefit from CDC seedling dispersal

By Reynaldo G. Navales

CLARK FREEPORT -- More than 1,000 farmers from two provinces in Central Luzon benefited from the seedling dispersal program of Clark Development Corporation (CDC).

Under the program, dubbed as “Gulayan sa Bakuran Tulong sa Kabuhayan at Kalusugan,” CDC was able to disperse more than 64,000 assorted seedlings to farmers' associations in the provinces of Pampanga and Tarlac.

The CDC External Affairs Department reported to CDC President Noel F. Manankil that the beneficiaries of the program were Carisucas Farmers who received 30 trays of seedlings and Anupul Farmers Association with 20 trays.

San Roque Farmer’s Bitas and Concepcion Farmers Association both received 25 trays of seedlings.

The municipalities of Capas, Bamban in Tarlac; Porac, Angeles City and Mabalacat City in Pampanga also received 25 trays of seedlings each.

Five selected partner schools in Pampanga were also given 10 trays of seedlings each for their "Gulayan sa Paaralan" project.

The distributed trays contained 128 seedlings of peppers and eggplants.

The seedling dispersal program, which was introduced in 2014, is part of CDC’s continuing Corporate Social Responsibility.

It was designed to uplift the lives of the nearby communities. It also serves as an annual agricultural livelihood project for farmers and selected beneficiaries.

Lawyer Perlita Sagmit, CDC vice president for Corporate Service, said the state-owned firm will continue to extend assistance to communities, especially to farmers’ group in the surrounding areas of Clark.

AC dad bats for a Singapore-like Clark

By Ashley Manabat

ANGELES CITY – In the midst of massive development at the Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ) as well as its contiguous areas, a city councilor here is batting for a greener environment similar to Singapore.

Councilor Jesus “Jay” Sangil, chairman of the council’s committee on Clark economic zone, said Singapore is a prime example on how to fully develop the area without harming the environment.

Sangil clarified that the massive construction of businesses inside the CFZ is a welcome development but reminded Clark officials to regulate its effect on the environment.

Clark Development Corp. (CDC) officials as well as the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) should and must maintain the green environment in Clark, Sangil said.

They should preserve the trees and historical sites of the freeport zone, he added.

“Hundreds of trees, as well as historical sites of Clark like the parade ground which is surrounded by decades-old trees, the picnic grounds, trees along its main roads, barn houses and similar structures should be preserved,” he said.

“If there are China town and Korean town, let us have a Fil-Am town in Clark with regulated building heights similar to several areas in California,” he pointed out.

Sangil said if Singapore was able to develop its area without harming the environment and even preserving it, why can’t we do it in Clark?

He said Clark was used by the Americans as a “botanical garden” during their time planting trees from all over the world in the area like the palm trees from Israel that lined both sides of the road leading to its main entrance as well as the various trees not indigenous to the Philippines.

Sangil said BCDA and CDC officials should also work return or revive the bike lanes and jogging paths that were destroyed or removed by past CDC administrations in the name of development.

Every modern and progressive city in the world is moving in this direction toward a greener environment now, let us do it here, he said.

Several luxurious hotels are currently undergoing construction in Clark like the Marriott, Mirej, Hilton and infrastructure development like the Capilion, Filinvest-Mimosa, Widus and Aqua Planet.

City College of Angeles conferred with excellence award by global BPO giant

(Punto Central Luzon)

ANGELES CITY - The City College of Angeles (CCA) added another feather to its cap as it was accorded by the international business process outsourcing (BPO) giant Sutherland Global Services with a Certificate of Excellence recently at Royce Hotel and Casino.

During the company’s global customer service provider’s Partner Summit held January 26 in Clark Freeport Zone, CCA was invited along with other partner schools and government agencies.

Out of the 30 partner institutions, CCA emerged as the only higher education institution to have received the said award along with Clark Development Corporation and Pampanga Manpower and Training Center.

The recognition cited CCA as an active partner that contributed in bridging the gap between education and employment through strategic partnership in the previous year.

The award was received by Institute of Computing Studies and Library Information Science (ICSLIS) Dean Mark Superio and Practicum Coordinators Wilburt Coronel and Renz Marion Cunanan.

CCA President Dr. Richard Daenos said that the distinction is a testament to the commitment of the city college in uplifting the quality of learning and instruction that will redound to the benefit of the students.

Having heard the news, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan extended his warm congratulations and lauded the efforts of the school administration for making the college uphold its stature as an institution of hope and higher learning.

“I doff my hat to all our academic stewards at CCA for attaining numerous awards which we dedicate to all of our students who once dreamt of pursuing college education,” said Mayor Pamintuan during the 5th Session of the 9th Local Development Council last January 30.

“In the near future, we will have CCA free of tuition fees. For now, let us continue developing our educational platforms, let us turn their dreams into reality as while living up to our school’s core mission of total development of man,” the mayor added.

Dr. Daenos along with the members of the CCA administration were present during the LDC to present and discuss the 6-year development plan for the community college.
