AUF hosts 3rd Pampanga Media Congress

ANGELES CITY -- Students from various high schools, colleges and universities from this city attended a Media Congress hosted by the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) over the week.

The conduct of the Third Pampanga Media Congress, held at AUF’s Sports and Cultural Center (SCC), was led by the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Samahan ng Mag-aaral sa Komunikasyon (SAMASKOM), in collaboration with media practitioners from GMA and ABS-CBN.

According to SAMASKOM president Patricia Louise Katigbak, the event's purpose was to “help the younger generation from different schools and universities to unify, and to have a stronger media in Pampanga."

The whole-day event started with opening remarks from the AUF’s Vice President for Academic Affairs Archimedes T. David, followed by CAS Dean Olga Angelinetta P. Tulabut who called the day of learning as 'ACE', which stands for Access, Analyze, Create and Evaluate media in various ways.

ABS-CBN media practitioners Rose Casala and Elizabeth Panelo, who were among the facilitators, taught students on Media Production and Determining Fake News, respectively.

The main lecturer, Rodrigo 'Jiggy' Manicad, a veteran reporter from GMA’s News and Public Affairs, shared his experiences as a reporter. He imparted to the students various techniques on how to produce a news report and determining fake news.

Those who attended the congress were students from Pampanga High School, Systems Plus College Foundation, Fransisco G. Nepomuceno High School, Angeles City National High School, Chevalier School, Claro M. Recto ICT High School, Santa Rita College, University of Assumption, City of San Fernado West Integrated School, Dolores Stand Alone Senior High School and Calulut Integrated School.
