Zambo City extends financial aid to Pagadian City fire victims

ZAMBOANGA CITY, June 13 (PNA) – The city government is extending Php 200,000 financial aid to the thousands of fire victims in Pagadian City.

Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar made the announcement citing the funds will be taken from this city’s calamity fund as authorized by the city council through a resolution.

A total of 1,500 houses mostly made of light materials and semi-concrete structures were razed in a four-hour fire that displaced more than 2,000 families.

The fire, which started in one of the houses in Barangay Santiago, fanned out towards the adjacent barangay of San Pedro in Pagadian city.

Salazar said the financial assistance manifest the city government “is able to reach out to our neighbors even if we are in crisis.”

A group of city government officials are set to handover the financial assistance to the fire victims through the local government of Pagadian City.
