THE Talisay City Government will spend P6.7 million for its dancing contingent in the Sinulog sa Kabataan-Lalawigan 2018.
City Budget Officer Edgar Mabunay said that the City’s contingent will have 900 performers for the competition.
These include 100 dancers, 200 dancing props men and almost 700 props men who will carry the panels and other installations.
The amount was allocated for the food and transportation expenses of the performers, as well as for making the props.
Mabunay said that the subsidy from the Sinulog Foundation will be a great help in their expenses.
This year, Talisay’s performers will focus on promoting cacao products.
Mabunay said they want to promote the product more since during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit that was held in the Philippines last year, delegates were offered locally made chocolates as gifts and as desserts.
Since Talisay has a cacao plantation in Camp 4, the contingent will portray in their presentation the planting and harvesting of cacao, he added.
Last year, Talisay City Central School won majority of the awards during the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan, particularly the street dancing competition, the ritual showdown, best in costume, and best in musicality prizes.
During the Sinulog sa Kabataan, Talisay was also among the crowd’s favorites.
