November 29, 2014 - interview with Cathy Carter, native of Sagpat now living in Little Rock, Arkansas. People have no regular means of livelihood. The natives plant camote and sayote along the steep mountain slopes. They sell some produce and most use for daily consumption. There are hardly rice terraces, very few, because the mountainsides are steep and there is no water supply. Water is sourced from infrequent rainfall. Temperature is cool throughout, except colder in December. I asked about drinking water supply. Cathy Carter tells me that people resource water from the brook (tiny trickling rivers) which they boil before drinking. The trickling water may sometimes come from the upper mountainsides where people may have already used the water for bathing or washing clothes, but they use it for drinking after boiling. Very few people buy filtered water from Baguio City. | |||
