ZAMBOANGA CITY, June 1 (PIA) –- A massive campaign to encourage people to be active members of the Social Security System (SSS) will kick off this June in this city and in key areas in Zamboanga Peninsula.

The campaign dubbed “Kontribusyon, Sulit na Sulit!” primarily aims to share with the public on a wider scale about the social protection program especially its benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, death, funeral, and retirement benefits, among others for active SSS members.

For this purpose, the SSS has teamed up with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) to implement the plan. Among the activities lined up are intensive media engagements, a multi-sectoral forum, barangay forums, the Sulit Conference, and setting up of information kiosks in public places.

PIA 9 Regional Director Noemi Edaga said “this is a golden opportunity for non-members to be encouraged to apply for membership, and also for members to rediscover the benefits of their remittances.”

Part of the campaign is going after companies that do not remit SSS contributions for their employees as mandated by law.
