Around 100 officials and personnel assigned at the Zamboanga seaport held a clean-up activity along the shoreline in Cawa Cawa on Tuesday (October 28) .

The clean-up drive was dubbed “Escoba Limpiesa.”

Participants include officials and personnel of the Zamboanga Coast Guard, port police and porters.

Zamboanga Coast Guard Commander Alvin Dagalea said that they held the clean-up activity for beach goers who regularly swim at the Cawa Cawa beach especially during weekends.

Dagalea said that they intend to hold the activity every Saturday.

It will be recalled that the City Health Office warned beachgoers against swimming in Cawa Cawa and other beaches in the city due to the presence of coliform in the water.

Beachgoers however insist on going to the area despite the stern warning.
