Fulfilling its mandate, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has released a total of P28 million to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) in Quezon City.

The PCSO said the amount was for EAMC’s purchase of equipment, including an ultrasound machine, a Surgical C-Arm, and a complete set for laparoscopy use.

PCSO Chairman Erineo Maliksi led agency officials in the turnover of the check to the EAMC recently.

This developed as the charity agency announced the opening of its 49th branch in Mati, Davao Oriental tomorrow.

PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II said opening branches in every province of the country was part of the agency’s long-term goals.

He averred that the PCSO only had 25 branches nationwide at the start of the Aquino administration in July 2010.

“Thus, the Board decided to adopt a network expansion strategy to provide Filipinos in remote and under-served areas with easier and more convenient access to PCSO’s products and services,” said Rojas.

Meanwhile, the PCSO yielded two “instant millionaires” on Saturday, with the bettors sharing the P6.8-million jackpot of Lotto 6/42.

The winners bought their winning tickets at the same Lotto outlet in Barangay (Village) Tunasan, Muntinlupa City, guessing correctly the 6/42 jackpot combination of 42-40-22-28-05-30.
