JOB applicants went to the Technical Education and Skills Development Training (Tesda) regional office on Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City to sign up for the agency’s Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and jobs-bridging program.
Dr. Francisca R. Opog, Tesda 7 assistant director, said there were 51 providers who have scholarship slots for the 2018 work scholarship program.
The 51 providers are called Tec-Voc Institutions (TVIs) with scholarship allocations.
The program intends to strengthen promotion and advocacy of various Tesda programs and services, and to expand access to the Tesda programs to a wide range of clients. This will also provide assistance to TVET graduates who are looking for jobs.
She said that all providers who are in the list of key employment generators are given one batch each at 25 beneficiaries per batch.
Opog said the amount of P34 million was allocated for the “Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP)” by Tesda for Cebu Province for January to June 2018.
She said that the target scholarship grantees who can avail themselves of this program is 4,000.
Tesda 7, which covers the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor and Negros Oriental, has a total of P72 million allocation to be implemented from January to June. Cebu got 46 percent, or at least P34 million.
