More than 200,000 students expected this June

The Department of Education is preparing for the entry of more than 200,000 students in the different public schools in Zamboanga city for the opening of classes in June.

Alhadzmar A Lantaka, DepEd Division Senior Education Program Specialist, said that they are expecting the following for this school year: 16,671 kindergarten students, 129,912 grade one to six; 58,232 grade 7 to 10 and 9,470 for senior high school.

The Department of Education is projecting a 2.5 increase in the number of students this year.

Preparations include the cleaning of class rooms and school premises with the Brigada Escuela, expected to kick off on Monday.

The office is also expecting 40,000 chairs coming from the local government through the Special Education Fund.
