MANILA, Dec. 7 (PNA) -- Fares for the Christmas Express buses of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will drop slightly starting Tuesday to allow more passengers to avail of the service.

LTFRB said that passengers taking the non-stop bus service from SM North Edsa in Quezon City to Glorietta 5 in Makati City will only pay PhP64 instead of PhP80 while those from Trinoma to Park Square, Ayala Center will only pay PhP60 instead of PhP80.

Passengers taking the route from Ayala Center and SM Megamall to Park Square, Ayala Center will only pay PhP40 instead of PhP50, the Board added.

The Christmas Express bus service, which carries passengers from three point-to-point destinations in Metro Manila, kicked off Saturday morning.

At least 20 high quality buses are used for this program which is meant to provide commuters with a more reliable and comfortable commuting experience.

LTFRB chairman Atty. Winston Ginez earlier said that the program is also meant to alleviate holiday traffic congestion by encouraging private car users to take public transport.
