CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Nov. 14 – The City Council committee on finance, budget and appropriations in Cagayan de Oro during its meeting took up, among others, the City Local Poverty Reduction Action Plan with the list of priority projects within the Grassroots Budgeting Menu of Programs for 2017.
This was referred by the committee on agriculture and fisheries chaired by Councilor Annie Daba to the committee for further study as per Motion No. 22683-2016 to defer action on proposed Resolution No. 2016-58 “approving and/or adopting the City Local Poverty Reduction Action Plan with the list of priority projects within grassroots budgeting menu of programs for FY 2017” duly adopted on September 13, 2016.
As transmitted by the chief executive last April 7, 2016, the list of priority projects for FY 2017 proposed by the Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and the City Poverty Reduction Action Team (CIPRAT), this city, has a total of 21 projects.
These include the establishment of irrigation systems, livelihood or kabuhayan programs for the enhancement of Bigasan ng Barangay to sari-sari stores, for the blind and deaf sectors, capacity development for youth sector, skills training for out-of-school youth (OSY) in the city, establishment of Higaonon Cultural Village and many others.
Enlisted as implementing National Government Agencies (NGA) for these projects are the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Training Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Tourism (DOT), among others.
The total project cost is pegged at P39.320 million with an estimated counterpart in the amount of P22 million and 17.320 million for the NGAs and for the city, respectively.
After careful study and deliberation, the committee, chaired by Councilor Edna Dahino, submitted this matter to the committee on laws and rules headed by Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya for appropriate action.
