DAGUPAN CITY, November 9 (PIA) – The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)-Pangasinan chapter gathered media practitioners on Saturday at the Divine Word Academy of Dagupan here for the opening of the KBP sports festival.
Emmanuel Sibayan, outgoing chairman of KBP-Pangasinan chapter, said the sports event aims to promote camaraderie among media practitioners in the broadcast, print and social media genre as they unwind for a day from the rigors of the profession.
“Today, let us advocate sportsmanship among service providers on air and forget first the competition of our stations,” he said during the kick-off ceremony that followed after a motorcade.
Sports games include basketball, volleyball and bowling.
Parlor games were also conducted that made the gathering more fun for the media.
Sibayan said games will continue on Saturday, November 12.
Aside from this activity, the KBP-Pangasinan chapter will also stage the “Ballet and Ballads” at 7 p.m. on November 11 (Friday) at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen town.
In partnership with the provincial government of Pangasinan and the Manila Broadcasting Company, the Ballet and Ballads will feature the performances of Ballet Manila and prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde with Filipino singer-songwriter Luke Mijares.
The KBP is a non-government and non-profit organization of the broadcast media in the Philippines.
In Pangasinan, the KBP chapter takes active role in spearheading a weekly forum, journalism seminars, member accreditation, blood donation drive, tree planting activity and socio-civic activities.
