ILOILO CITY (PNA) -- The Environmental Management Bureau (MGB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has found a creative way of raising public awareness on the need to take good care of natural resources this Environment Month through music.

Dubbed as ‘Musika ng Kalikasan,’ the DENR tapped the Troubadours Choir of the University of San Agustin (USA) and the Iloilo Prima Galaw for series of performances about taking good care of nature held at the Robinsons Place here, Friday.

Rabbi Chris Carbajal, EMB-6 chief for environmental education and information said that the celebration is their way to remind the public of their responsibilities as agents of change.

It is also one way to encourage them to support the environmental programs of DENR-EMB for sustainable and equitable development.

“This encourages everyone to celebrate and protect species that are on the danger of extinction as well as do efforts to address climate change,” he said.

During the event, the programs of the DENR were also showcased through an audio-video presentation. It includes National Eco-Saver Program, Basura Patrol Program, Adapt-an-Estero Water Body Program, among others.

“Let us all be responsible for our only home, our mother earth; and let us all become a catalyst of change,” Carbajal further said.

This month’s celebration anchors on the theme ‘Go Wild for Life, Combat Biodiversity Loss.’
