THE Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) will soon have two walk-through scanners, one for males and another for females, as the Davao City Economic Enterprise (CEE) is now processing the documents for the procurement.

“Naa na’y proposal pero ginaprocess pa namo ang pagpalit, ginapangitaan namo ug paagi aron madali kay kinahanglan na siya for security reasons (We already have a proposal and we are now processing the procurement process, we are now finding ways to fast tract this because we know that it is needed for security reasons,” said CEE chief Maribeth Lumactod.

Each scanner will cost between P80,000 to P90,000, she said.

The DCOTT plan to install the scanners within the year.

DCOTT head Aisa Usop, in a media interview last Monday, April 10, said that 20 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras had been installed in the terminal, of which two are revolving cameras.

The priority now are the two scanners for males and females. They may purchase more, for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and pregnant women, but only when the need arises, Usop added.

Usop said they also plan on installing baggage scanners, but not in the near future.

“Our baggage scanner will be delayed because we have to renovate the terminal entrance,” she said.

In the same interview, Usop assured that the enough security forces are in the area for the expected influx of passengers during and after the Holy Week.
