Davao City eyes 300K in Guinness bid

THE City Government of Davao targets 300,000 participants for its bid to set a new record of "Most People Singing Simultaneously the Philippine National Anthem" in the Guinness Book of World Record.

Davao City Information Office head, Leo Villareal in a statement sent to Sun.Star Davao, the city now extends invitation to different participants all over the city to join the historical event set at Crocodile Park, Maa, Diversion Road on May 7 at 5 p.m.

He also said that the event is set to be participated by the regional center and other urban cities and municipalities, universities and schools, religious groups, barangays, associations of professionals, family clan and others.

The event was first announced through a Facebook post of Philip Dizon, the chief executive officer of the Crocodile Park, who received a letter from Executive Director and Secretariat of Duterte Camp Marcelino Escalada asking for the camp to be authorized for using the area as the venue for the event.

The letter read that the city is eyeing to break the Guinness Book of World Record of Bangladesh with around 254,250 participants set last March 2014.

"We intend to gather around the country to participate but most of the number will be here in Davao," the letter read.
