CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Deliberations on Cagayan de Oro city’s projected P5 billion budget for 2017 will commence soon.
The City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy is constituting the City Council as a Committee of the Whole to deliberate on the city’s Executive Budget (General Fund and Special Account-Economic Enterprises/Utilities) for calendar year 2017 in the amounts of P4,621,842,141 and P378,157,859, respectively.
- BUDGET MESSAGE
In his budget message, Mayor Oscar Moreno said the city government aims to provide affordable but quality social services, sustainable job generation and employment opportunities, capability building geared towards the development of micro and small enterprises.
The city will also strengthen its capability to prepare, mitigate and respond to calamities through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Team, sustain revenue generation, enhance the delivery and better access to health care by the continued upgrading of the JR Borja General Hospital from being a primary to a secondary hospital.
For 2017, the city government will also continue to sustain financial protection against the cost of illness through the Philhealth Program, and accreditation of Barangay Health Centers where Maternity Care Package Program, to revitalize agricultural productivity as major source of income and employment in hinterland barangays and upgrading and rehabilitation of city markets, among others.
According to the city mayor, it has been estimated that the total resource for the budget year will reach P5 billion for the General Fund and Special Account-Economic Enterprises of which Tax Revenue under Local Sources contributed P1,686,983,126 or 34-percent of the total budget. Other Local Sources of the city comes from: Beginning Balance of P640,000,000; Realignment of Continuing Appropriation (20-percent Development Fund) P50,000,000 and Receipts from Loans and Borrowings P500,000,000.
