DSWD 9 to open info hub

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office 9 will soon open an Info Hub or Information kiosk in a bid to better inform the public regarding its programs, which will be launched next week.

"These are television (TV) sets where information of DSWD programs are in loop," Ivan Eric Salvador, DSWD 9 information officer, bared.

InfoHub is an innovation of DSWD Field Office 9 to integrate the Information, Communication and Education (IEC) materials of the agency into digital and electronic formats.

The initiative aims to reinforce the knowledge of the internal and external public on various programs and services of the DSWD by providing a centralized hub for information and other relevant contents for public information.

A total of 14 television sets will be purchased by the department worth P200,000 which will be distributed to DSWD office and DSWD 9 centers in Region 9.

Recipients of the television sets are: Reception and Study Center for Children located in Barangay Talon Talon, Area Vocational and Rehabilitation Center in Barangay Mampang, Home for women in San Roque, Home for elderly Talon- Talon, processing center for displaced persons Mampang, Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth Zamboanga del Norte, Balay Dangpanan sa Kabataan also in Zamboanga del Norte, Crisis Intervention Unit in Sta.Barbara, five Social Welfare and Development Teams, and regional office.

According to Salvador, these television sets will show DSWD 9 programs in a one to two-minute videos such as social pension, trafficking, supplementary feeding, adoption, center based programs, and others.

"We wanted to establish good understanding among our public, how DSWD is working for the welfare of the clients," Salvador said.
