WITH the continuous implementation of enhanced police operations and the resumption of Project “Double Barrel,” the Police Regional Office in Central Luzon (PRO-3) noted a 36-percent decrease in crime incidents in Central Luzon.
Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus, PRO-3 regional director, said they recorded 1,342 crimes from January 1 to March 18 of this year, lower by 761 cases than the 2,103 crimes recorded in the same period of 2017.
Corpus said a significant decrease was noted in murder, homicide, robbery, theft, physical injury, motornapping and rape cases.
While the region’s crime incidence was down, Corpus revealed that PRO-3’s crime clearance efficiency and crime solution efficiency simultaneously increased by 70.86 percent and 48.36 percent, respectively.
He noted that the police provincial office (PPO) with the highest decrease in crime rate was Bataan PPO (48.21 percent), followed by Nueva Ecija PPO (43.31 percent), Olongapo City Police Office (42.19 percent), Angeles City Police Office (39.90 percent), Pampanga PPO (37.02 percent), Tarlac PPO (35.93 percent), Bulacan PPO (30.57 percent) and Zambales PPO (22.22%), respectively.
“This significant decrease in focus and prevalent crimes can be attributed to the intensification of our anti-criminality measures particularly on motorcycle riding suspects and our resumed anti-drug campaign and the community's support and involvement in our crime prevention and control efforts," Corpus said.
