City government honors CLRAA medalists

ANGELES City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan extended his commendation to the Angeleño student-athletes who reaped numerous recognitions and medals in the recently concluded Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) Meet.
The recognition rite was held on Monday, March 12, coinciding with the city hall’s regular flag raising ceremony.
Based on the final medal tally of CLRAA, the city garnered a total of 35 medals (6 gold, 11 silver, and 18 bronze) under various regular sports comprising of table tennis, swimming, taekwondo, badminton, lawn tennis, volleyball, athletics, and football.
“Congratulations to all our athletes who won in the CLRAA meet for this is yet another honor to our city. We are elated that our sports programs are helping the youth achieve their dreams. May these [medals] propel them to work hard and inspire them to continue aiming high,” said Pamintuan.
Sports Office chief Rosever Pascua also expressed his gratitude over the support of the city in providing the athletes their needs saying that “the quality uniforms and shoes provided for our student-athletes helped them perform their best and maximize their movements in their fields.”
“The CLRAA 2018 may have just ended but we are already setting our minds for the next tourney,” said Pascua.
Meanwhile, the Special Olympics, the newest introduction in the CLRAA meet which supports the program for ‘Sports for All’, was participated by Angeleño persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Under this category, the city bagged a total of 24 medals which consist of six gold, five silver, and 10 bronze.
During the recognition rites at the city hall, the medalists under the regular sports and Special Olympics categories received certificates of recognition and cash incentives from the local government.
With the theme “Broadening Youth’s Horizon through Sports Competition,” the CLRAA 2018 aims to promote sportsmanship, good values, and camaraderie among the participating delegates.
The event concluded in March 2 in Malolos, Bulacan.
