CDC opens new gate in Clark for light vehicles

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga (PNA) -- The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) ordered the opening of a new access gate for inbound and outbound motorists here.

The opening of the new gate along Don Juico Avenue in Barangay Malabanias, Angeles City is in preparation for the staging of the 21st Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta on February 9 to 12.

CDC vice president for Engineering Services Group Alveen Tabag said the new gate is only for light vehicles and open only from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The new access gate is one of the infrastructure projects of the state-owned firm that are lined up to help ease down traffic in and around the Freeport especially during rush hours.

The CDC spent PHP4.4 million for the construction of the new access gate.

Last year, CDC opened the six-kilometer Clark Mabalacat Angeles Road (CMAR) to motorists to help decongest vehicular traffic along MacArthur Highway between the cities of Angeles and Mabalacat.

CDC president and CEO Noel F. Manankil said that more infrastructure projects are being lined here in line with the Build Build Build mantra of the national government.

The CDC is also eyeing to widen the major thoroughfares inside the Freeport in preparation for a possible conduct of events related to the 50th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to be held in the country this year.

The road improvements are also in anticipation of growing domestic and international flights at Clark airport and the increasing number of workers due to the expected operations of new locators here.
