5th bloodletting collects 249 bags

MORE than 300 blood donors turned up for the 5th grand bloodletting activity recently organized by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

Simultaneously conducted at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu and at the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) campus, the activity collected 249 bags of blood.

For five straight years, a total of 1,525 bags of blood have been generated through the CCCI’s bloodletting activity.

Majority of the blood donors for this year’s bloodletting came from UCLM’s ROTC cadets, together with the personnel from the Cebu City Police Office, Police Regional Office 7, Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command, 2nd Air Division Philippine Air Force and Naval Forces Central.

Members of the Rotary International District 3860, Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente Community Based as well as CCCI members also supported the activity by sending their employees to serve as volunteer blood donors.

The support of Alcordo Advertising, Philinsure, Gardenia, Jollibee Foods Corp., Krispy Kreme, Nature’s Spring, RC Goldline, CP Plus, Veco, San Miguel Brewery Inc., Juanito I. King Foundation, National Grid Corp. of the Philippines, Mabuhay Filcement, Uniform Solutions, Stitches & Wear, Graphicstar, King’s Quality Foods, University of Southern Philippines Foundation College of Nursing, UCLM College of Nursing and 888 News Forum have been instrumental for the event’s success.

The grand bloodletting 2016 is a collaborative effort of CCCI, Rotary International District 3860, Department of Health 7 Blood Center, Philippine Red Cross Eastern Visayas Regional Blood Center and convening partners.

The event with the theme, “Blood connects us all,” was conducted in accordance with the National Blood Donor’s Month celebration.
