LUCENA CITY, Quezon- The Pag-IBIG Fund - Lucena branch appealed to the 8,367 housing loan borrowers with unpaid account, and delinquent and unregistered employers that have not yet register their company and workers to avail the Pag-IBIG Fund housing loan restructuring and penalty condonation program.
A policeman was killed while a suspected robber was wounded during a shootout in Quezon province, police said on Thursday.


According to Norma Cayabyab, chief of marketing and enforcement division, said the program gives its members an opportunity to settle their housing loan account and registration of employers and workers until June 2012.
The slain policeman was identified as Police Officer 3 Francisco Villania of the Atimonan town police station. He was killed during a firefight with a group of robbers.


“We informed the housing loan borrowers and delinquent and unregistered employers thru mails but as of this time only 26 members had sent their intention to avail the program. Still we are waiting until on the due date to accept their reply," Cayabyab said.
One of the armed robbers, Arturo Jurado, was injured during the shootout. He was rushed to the Quezon Medical Hospital in Lucena City for treatment.


Cayabyab encouraged delinquent members, either individual or company, to avail this program in able to avoid uncomfortable circumstances.
Police said that Villania and Police Officer 2 Benito Reyes responded to an ongoing robbery at the Mr. D Convenience Store along 898 Orda Street, Barangay Zone 2, in Atimonan town, Wednesday at 2:50 p.m.


Meanwhile, Pag-IBIG Fund is now using ‘cash card’ to all borrowers of ‘multi-purpose loan’ (MPL).
The two cops gave chase and engaged the robbers in a gunfight.
 
Authorities managed to arrest two more suspects identified as Miguel Mollas Targa of Sitio Pilaway, Brgy Polo, Mauban, Quezon and Elmer Encina of Barangay Sta. Maria, Calauag, Quezon.
 
Two other suspects were able to escape after commandeering a jeepney and sped toward Plaridel, Quezon.
 
Police recovered from the suspects several high powered firearms, including an UZI sub-machine gun, mobile phones, P1,300 and a tricycle used as a getaway vehicle.
