TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol- Two bands from Bohol need their town's support to download their entries to land them a spot in the 2011 Kapisanan ng Mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Pop Music Festival’s upcoming album.
Bohol province has  other things going for it as a tourist destination, aside from its white-sand beaches, the Loboc River cruise, historic churches  and tranquil atmosphere.

Shortlisted after besting more than 300 entries when the competition opened last year, the Boholano rap/ rhythm and blues group Rhymatics (Tagbilaran) and rock group Cruisers Band (Loboc) hang on as they invite Boholanos to keep downloading their entries on the internet until April 27.
The town of Bien Unido has an underwater grotto and nature attractions.

Rhymatics, a group of four friends from Tagbilaran City, sings Bangon Pilipinas, a three-minute, 34-second rap composition of Jake Warren Hubac of Dampas.
Bien Unido Mayor Nino Boniel  said the town is accessible and good for budget-conscious tourists.

On the other hand, the Cruisers, a six-member band composed of musicians playing regularly aboard the Loboc River cruises, sings a four-minute rock piece called Ang Kabataang Pinoy (AKAP).
Boniel was a guest of the 888 News Forum at the Marco Polo Plaza on Tuesday to promote his municipality.

The KBP 2011 Pop Music Festival came out as a project of an alliance of the Filipino Composers Development Cooperative (FILCOMDEC) and the KBP to promote the Philippine music industry, develop the culture and arts and discover new talents, establish, create, maintain, and manage an internet protocol based web-site for music content so these artists can have a music store.
A Star Craft fastcraft has daily trips to Bien Unido with boat  fare of P200 to P280.

In its website that was born to promote the sales of Filipino musical creations, Click Music Philippines Incorporated (CMPI) said its website www.clickmusic.com.ph allows Filipino artists to distribute their musical creations by making them available for download and other multi-media applications to improve or promote the economic well-being and/or interest of the stakeholders in the Philippine Music Industry.
The  Bohol Yacht Club at the town’s Port San Pedro offers accommodations with 30 bedrooms, function rooms, bars and an infinity pool in a 3,000-square-meter facility.

CMPI works in close consultation with the different stakeholders in the Philippine Music Industry such as the composers, publishers, sound recording rights owners, artists, performers, broadcast media, and all other parties who might have a stake in the Philippine Music Industry.
Bien Unido, which is known as “Bohol’s Last Frontier.”  is part of the Danajon Bank, a double-barrier reef that is one of six in the world.

Their first major project, the 2010 KBP Pop Music Festival, aims to generate new song content for the Click Music website while successfully achieving its goals.
An added attraction is the underwater grotto.

In 2011, the competition was again opened to all Filipino composers both amateur and professional. But this year, the contest organizers said it is unique from other songwriting contests because the competition will be done in the airwaves.
In 2010, the town  installed  14-foot statues of the Virgin Mary and Señor Sto. Nino 60 feet underwater in  the reef to remind illegal fishermen that God created the seas and to  discourage destructive fishing.

This means that shortlisted artists need to garner as much song download sales from www.clickmusic.com.ph to edge past other finalists.
The mayor said the grotto was the first in the Philippines, a reminder for us to take good care of our environment for the future generations.

To download, music enthusiasts can visit the website, look for Bangon Pilipinas and AKAP in the titles or Cruisers and Rhymatics in the artists and click on the download to carts.
Bien Unido is also known as the seaweed capital in the country.

Each downloaded music costs P25.00, according to the website.
Under a  “Lakbay Aral” package, visitors can learn how seaweeds are planted, harvested and processed in the town’s plant.

Tourists can also go and island hopping  and diving.

“The Bien Unido Island Tour Experience allows you to explore the several fine beaches in the coastlines of the different island barangays,” Boniel said.

Bien Unido has a population of 22,000 in its 15 barangays, eight of which are island barangays.

Bobby Joseph, National Association of Independent Travel Agencies in the Philippines chairman emeritus, lauded the efforts of the Bien Unido government officials.

Joseph said that it’s important for stakeholders such as the local government, barangays and its people to take part in promoting and sustaining  local  tourist spots.
