LUCENA CITY, Quezon- The provincial government of Quezon and SM City Lucena launched "Hello Quezon: I love my town, I love my province," a project aiming to showcase local festivals and tourist destinations in the province.
LUCENA CITY, Quezon- A Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) officer urged the consumers to ask receipt whenever they buy any goods and services to join in "Premyo sa Resibo" contest.


According to Lilibeth Azores, SM public relations manager, the project is a partnership of the local government and SM City to promote prime festivals, culture, culinary and places in Quezon.
In a radio interview at DWLC-Radyo ng Bayan, District Officer Yolanda Ferrer said that aside from winning P1 million and other exciting prizes, the people can also help the government in generating taxes.


“We will feature local festivals in SM City’s event center every week from April 13 until May 19. This is the support of SM malls in the tourism development program of the government,” Azores added.
“We are encouraging the people to get receipts from the business establishments and services from professionals like doctors, dentists, lawyers to enforce them to issue receipts,” Ferrer added.


Quezon Provincial Tourism Officer Alberto Bay Jr. said the program is one way of promoting the beauty of Quezon, its festivals, crafts, arts and its one town-one product (OTOP).
Ferrer explained that the participants in this contest can have one entry for every P100 reflected in the official receipt up to a maximum of 50 entries.


Bay added that among the festivals that will be featured are Arana’t Baluarte of Gumaca, Bulihan festival of Sampaloc; Agawan festival of Sariaya; Hambujan festival of Dolores; Tagultol fishing festival of Atimonan; and Maubanog festival of Mauban.
Meanwhile, she encouraged the tax payers to pay their taxes on accurate amount and avoid tampering of taxes.


He said that the vision of the provincial government is that by 2016, Quezon province will be in the tourism map of the Philippines and of the world, adding that the effort of SM and other organizations will gear to boost the tourism industry in the province.
She said that if the people will pay their taxes in the right amount, the government could implement many programs beneficial to the poor residents.
