PAGBILAO, Quezon- The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) here has approved recently a resolution requesting the Department of Energy (DoE) to allocate funds for the electrification of the access road to the ecological park located at Barangay Ibabang Bagumbungan.
LUCENA CITY, Quezon- The city government of Lucena will host the regional launching of the anti-dengue campaign on May 2 spearheaded by the Deapartment of Health (DoH) Calabarzon region.

Proposed by Councilor Veranio Fuentes, chairman of the committee on public works, utilities and facilities, the resolution was based on DoE Act of 1992 which provides that a community hosting an energy resource or energy-generating facility should be given direct and equitable preferential benefits.
According to city assistant health officer Dr. Vincent Martinez, the Department of Health (DOH) IV-A has chosen this city to be the venue of anti-dengue campaign because of the high cases of dengue recorded last year.

Moreover, the request is also in line with the Electric Power Reforms Act of 2001 that says a certain amount out of the electricity sales should be set aside as financial benefit for the host community.
The DOH wants the residents of this city to be aware on the prevention of dengue by initiating clean-up drive in their respective homes, Dr. Martinez said, adding that if the 53,000 households in the city will help the city government on its anti-dengue campaign there maybe no cases of dengue that will be recorded.

In approving the resolution, the SB believes the need for the electrification of the access road leading to the ecological park that would improve the delivery of basic services in the community.
Representatives from the different health sectors CALABARZON region are expected to attend the anti-dengue campaign launching.

The approved resolution has been forwarded to the Team Energy Corp. Pagbilao Grande Island for submission to the DoE.
Meanwhile, the city health office (CHO) held an 'anti-dengue infomercial' contest for high school and college students recently.

The CHO also urged barangay officials to conduct ‘search and destroy’ operation on the possible nesting grounds of mosquitoes in their areas as part of anti-dengue prevention.
