LUCENA CITY, Quezon- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Quezon Provincial Office is set to distribute 15 computer sets to 15 public high schools in Quezon province through the agency's personal computer for public schools (PCPS) project starting April until May 2012.
PAGBILAO, Quezon- The liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal and storage facility in Barangay Polo in this town is expected to operate by the end of 2013.

Chito Luce, senior trade and industry specialist of DTI Quezon said the PCPS project is DTI’s response to the growing challenges by the fast-emerging knowledge economy. The project, funded by the government of Japan, aims to develop the information technology skills of the Filipino youth as the country’s future knowledge workers by providing computer laboratory packages to public high schools, Luce added.
According to Graham Elliot, project director of Energy World Corporation (EWC), within 18 months the natural gas terminal hub in Quezon Province will be operational. This is the first LNG hub terminal in the country.

The PCPS project of DTI Quezon started in 2001 and has completed four batches of computerization programs and distributed 122 computer sets (from 1st batch to 4th batch) to public high schools in Quezon.
“We plan to put up satellite receiving terminals in the country for easy reach and accessibility by industrial gas users,” Elliot said.

The additional 15 beneficiaries of the DTI’s PCPS project for the fourth batch computerization program which will receive computer sets are Batangan National High School in General Nakar, Quezon; Binagbag National High School in Agdangan, Quezon; Burdeos National High School in Burdeos, Quezon; Cagsiay III-Cagsiay 1 NHS Ext. in Mauban, Quezon; Calantas National High School in Macalelon, Quezon; Dr. Panfilo Castro NHS in Candelaria, Quezon; Gov. Anacleto Alcala High School in Sariaya, Quezon; Gumaca National High School in Gumaca, Quezon and Kinagunan Ibaba National High School in Padre Burgos, Quezon.
Deodennis Asistin, operation engineer of the LNG project said they constructed a 130,000 cubic-meter LNG storage tank, regasification facility, jetty and supporting infrastructure in two phases.

Other PCPS project beneficiaries are Kinatakutan National High School in Tagkawayan, Quezon; Magallanes NHS Pisipis Extension in Lopez, Quezon; Paaralang Sekundarya ng Hen. Nakar-Umiray Extension in General Nakar, Quezon; Pablo D. Maningas National High School in Quezon, Quezon; San Francisco B. Sto. Nino National High School Ext. in Lopez, Quezon and Villa San Isidro National High School in Calauag, Quezon.
Asistin added that imported LNG will be sourced from the gas fields of EWC in Australia and Indonesia and will be stored in LNG storage tanks in Pagbilao and then distributed to their respective partners and consumers.

The LNG hub terminal will also be used to facilitate the distribution of natural gas to the gas turbine power plant.
