LUCENA CITY, Quezon- Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) Sec. Corazon Juliano Soliman disclosed during the consultation meeting with local chief executives of “makamasang tugon areas” held March 22 at the Queen Margarette Hotel in this city that DSWD will help the provincial government of Quezon in fighting malnutrition in the province. | |||
Sec. Soliman said the program on the eradication of malnutrition among pre-schoolers or children ages 0-7 year-olds shall be conducted through free supplemental feeding programs specially in the Bondoc Peninsula areas. | |||
Meanwhile, the Quezon provincial goverment headed by Governor Suarez reported during the teacher’s convention recently held in this city that the malnutrition problem in the province decreased due to the successful implementation of nutrition programs such as free feeding, nutrijuice as well as the "gulayan sa paaralan program." | |||
Sec. Soliman said DSWD will continue the implementation of Kapit-Bisig Laban sa kahirapan-Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Services program or the KALAHI CIDSS in Quezon province, According to ther, it is very important to continue the program in various municipalities in Quezon that needs immediate assistance from DSWD and other concerned government agencies. | |||
“We will construct additional day care centers and classrooms in the municipalities in Quezon province as DSWD’s post aid to some municipalities that needs such projects,” Soliman added. ` | |||
Also present during the consultation with the chief executives were DSWD 4-A Dir. Wilma Naviamos, Quezon Gov. David Suarez, PSWDO Sonia Leyson, municipal mayors Remedios Rivera of Buenavista, Quezon; Eleonor Uy of San Narciso, Quezon; Gil Establicida of Burdeos, Quezon; Renato A. Alilio of Dolores, Quezon and mayor Rodelo Tena of Jomalig, Quezon. | |||
The municipal mayors thanked the national government through the DSWD in giving assistance to thepoorest families in their respective towns through the implementation of the DSWD's programs such as the KALAHI CIDSS, Pantawid Pamilya Program and the Self-employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) program that helped many poor families in Quezon in uplifting their quality of life. | |||
