ILAGAN, Isabela- The construction of a world-class park and astrodome in the province is underway at the provincial capitol grounds here with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Artist for Peace as consultant for the development of the park. | |||
Joel Paragas, UNESCO artist and park consultant, said there will be a 17-feet sculpture of Queen Isabella II of Spain at the center of a fountain in the mini park. | |||
According to the history of Isabela, its name originated from Queen Isabella of Spain where the Spanish authorities who conquered the province named after her. | |||
He said that around the sculpture of Queen Isabella II would be sculptures of the former leaders and heroes of the province who serve and freed the province. | |||
“The statue of Queen Elizabeth the II itself speaks about the history of Isabela," Pragas said. | |||
Paragas is also the artist who designed the construction of Jones historical shrine that was constructed in Jones, Isabela last year. | |||
The proposed astrodome in the capitol compound will be funded by the provincial government. | |||
