Latuan was earlier inhabited by chavacanos. They occupied the area on their own. They cultivated and transformed these areas into a coconut producing land and other crops. | |||
When the Spaniards came to this place they were enthusiastic to see the cave. When they got inside the cave, they found out that there plenty of lusay plant at the mouth of the cave. This lusay plant looks like the latu-latu or latu in Chavacano and from this word Latuan was derived. | |||
As years went by, migration rate was also increasing along with the influence of their own land and make their own land more progressive and they found it suitable in their own barrios for their livelihood hence, making this a permanent place for residence. | |||
