ILAGAN, Isabela- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has approved on second and final reading the province’s operational expenses for 2012 amounting to more than P1.749 billion during Tuesday’s regular session. This was after the series of committee hearings conducted by the appropriations committee headed by SP member Caesar Purugganan who also acted as the temporary presiding officer during the session.
The current budget is P49 million higher than the previous budget of P1.7 billion.
Atty. Noel Manuel Lopez, provincial administrator, presented the final copy of the budget proposal and was unanimously approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
The SP wanted that the budget be approved before the holiday break so that there will be no re-enacted budget for the succeeding year.
The committee has invited concerned heads of offices during the hearings to defend their respective proposed budgets for 2012.
Under the budget submitted by the Office of the Governor, there is a total of P109.545 million beginning balance, P86.691 million for tax revenue, P1.413 billion Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA), P131.679 million for operating and miscellaneous collections, and P5 million for extra-ordinary receipts.
The province’s budget will be utilized for salaries of employees amounting to P564.073 million, maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE) is P637.171 million, capital outlay will be P67 million, economic and social services and infrastructure development or for development activities is P304.642 million, and five percent of the total budget is allotted for calamity fund.
