ILAGAN, Isabela- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Isabela has intensified its price monitoring activities on basic commodities, especially the Noche Buena products for the Christmas season, according to Maria Salvacion Castillejos, provincial director. | |||
Castillejos said she has ordered his employees to closely monitor the prices of basic commodities and post suggested retail price lists in public places so the public will know the prices of products they are buying. | |||
The DTI also confiscates sub-standard Christmas lights or those that have no Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) marks to avoid fire incidents. | |||
DTI personnel cautioned business establishments selling the said products that they will face charges against trading laws and their permits will be cancelled if found liable to the said offense. | |||
Castillejos advised the public to be vigilant and report to government authorities those establishments which are selling high prices of basic commodities and selling sub-standard Christmas lights. | |||
The objective of the DTI in its monitoring activities is to ensure that no business owners will take advantage of the holiday season by increasing the prices of their commodities. | |||
