MANILA, Philippines | MANILA, Philippines - Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes is asking concerned agencies to act against FM radio stations using profane and obscene languages on their shows.
In a report from the CBCP News, Bastes said: “Dapat talagang i-monitor at parusahan ng KBP (Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas) ang mga anchor-DJ’s (disc jockeys) sa radyo na malaswa magsalita.”
“Nakakahiya yan. We should use good words on air na makakatulong upang maiangat ang pagkatao at moralidad ng mga Filipino,” he said.
He is referring to radio programs that accept calls from the public. The DJ then gives them advice on relationships, including sex matters.
“Some of the DJs, especially in midnight programs, are using indecent language and vulgar language, which is not good,” said Bastes.
Other programs even discuss sexually-oriented topics, he said. DJs even use “double-meaning” words, he noted.
