KORONADAL CITY, Oct 11 (PIA) --Health officials in South Cotabato are conducting investigation of a food poisoning incident in T’boli town that downed a family of six. | |||
Dr. Rogelio Aturdido Jr., provincial health officer, said he immediately ordered a team to go to SitioLibi, Barangay Lambuling, T’boli to help determine the cause of food poisoning of a family that led to death of two children and hospitalization of four others. | |||
Norberto Lapastora, administrative officer of the local government of T’boli , identified the victims who are now under observation at the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital as Jomari and Mary Ann Fundo and their children Saida and Lorie. | |||
Fatalities were identified as Narjun Fundo and Maila Fundo. | |||
Initial reports that reached T’boli LGU said that the family experienced severe abdominal pain, headache and vomiting after eating a meal of porridge allegedly made from NFA rice distributed under the Municipal Social Welfare Office’s supplemental feeding program. | |||
However, Dr.Aturdido said this report has yet to be confirmed. He said, investigation is still underway to determine what the victims have ingested. | |||
Aturdido said they have already collected stool and blood samples for laboratory examinations. | |||
Lapastora meanwhile said samples of the rice alleged to have poisoned the family have been sent to Davao City for testing. | |||
Aturdido also reported that both parents and one of the two children confined at SCPH are now stable but added that one of the children is still in a critical condition. (DEDoguiles/PIA 12) | |||
