CABARROGUIS, Quirino, Sept. 30 (PNA)– The local chief executive placed the province under state of calamity after it has received huge damages report on agriculture and infrastructure caused by typhoon 'Pedring'.
Governor Junie E. Cua called on concerned government agencies to help the province regain to normalcy especially that the province has only limited financial resources.
He said several major infrastructure projects, particularly a bridge in Nagtipunan town, was destroyed by typhoon Pedring.
Cua said he wanted that immediate rehabilitation to the San Dionision II bridge should be restored so the residents in Nagtipunan would not be isolated.
In a report of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council (PDRRMC), a total of 1, 095 houses were destroyed in the province while 4,083 houses were partially damage.
The provincial government has registered no casualties compared to other provinces in the region. It has registered 11 injuries and 75 barangays were greatly affected where the PDRRMC made a pre-emptive evacuation, especially to residents in the low-lying areas particularly those that were living near the rivers.
The total individuals affected reached to 52,203 while the damages on infrastructure are still being assessed by the provincial engineering office.
The total estimated damaged on agriculture reached to P220 million based on the report of the PDRRMC.
The damage on palay was estimated at P75 million while P126 million for corn.
When typhoon 'Juaning' hit the province earlier, the provincial government was also declared under a state of calamity due to huge damages on corn and banana plants.
