Residents in several areas in five provinces in Northern Luzon are experiencing power failures after transmission lines tripped due to the onslaught of Typhoon "Mina."

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said its three major transmission lines -- La Trinidad-Bulalacao 69 kV, Solana-Tabuk 69 kV line and Tuguegarao-Magapit-Camalanuigan-Sta.Ana 69 kV line - tripped on Saturday morning.

Twenty-one municipalities in Cagayan and five in '''Apayao''' are currently without electricity, while the entire province of Kalinga has no power.

Also affected are the municipalities of Atok and Mankayan in Benguet, and Sagada in Mountain Province.

The NGCP said it has sent personnel to assess damage and restore the transmission lines.
