ILOILO CITY – The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) has urged its members here to register and avail of the Konsulta package that offers a preventive benefit deal. This outpatient package includes consultation, laboratory examinations, and drugs and medicines with prescriptions, which are free for members and their dependents, provided they register and avail of it in a government hospital-provider or a personal co-pay of PHP500 in a private provider.

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Bureau of Customs (BOC) operatives have arrested 11 persons and seized some PHP25 million worth of smuggled cigarettes off this city, a top BOC official said Friday. The personnel of the Water Patrol Division (WPD) and Enforcement and Security Service-Customs Police Division (ESS-CPD) were on routine patrol when they spotted a motorboat Thursday near Santa Cruz Island heading to the city. Segundo Sigmundfreud Barte Jr., BOC-Zamboanga District collector, said when authorities inspected the motorboat manned by an 11-man crew, it was found loaded with 707 master cases of cigarettes worth PHP25 million.
BUTUAN CITY – Four professional surfers from Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte province ruled their divisions in the the Pilipinas Surfing Nationals Leg 4 that ended in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur on Saturday. Aping Agudo emerged victorious in the Women’s Open Longboard Division, Toby Espejon ruled the Junior Boys’ Shortboard, and John Mark Tokong was Men’s Shortboard champion, replicating their feats in Leg 3 held in Borongan City, Eastern Samar last month. Meanwhile, Dianne Nogalo snatched the Women’s Shortboard title.
