CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando on Monday officially endorsed the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo, saying he strongly believes that the lone female candidate for the top post is the most qualified. “Kailangan po natin ng isang pangulo na simple at hindi kailanman aabusuhin ang kanyang posisyon para sa kanyang sariling interes. At ang lahat po ng ito ay na kay Pangalawang Pangulong Leni Robredo dahil sa huli, ‘the last man standing is a woman’ (We need a president who is simple and will never abuse the position for her own interest. And all of these qualities are in Vice President Leni Robredo because in the end, ‘the last man standing is a woman’)," Fernando said during a press briefing at the Giron Hall in the historic Barasoain Church in this city.
TACLOBAN CITY – Agriculture Secretary William Dar announced on Thursday a PHP1.1 billion budget for fuel subsidies for corn farmers and fishermen in the country to cushion the impact of soaring oil prices. On top of the legislated PHP500 million fuel subsidies, President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the disbursement of PHP600 million for farmers’ fuel discounts, Dar said during a meeting with farmers, fisherfolk, local government officials in Leyte province, and agriculture officials here. “By April, there will be an additional PHP600 million for corn farmers, (and) fishers. Our appeal to you is do not stop producing food. Continue what you are doing even if we are dealing with this global crisis,” Dar said.
