LEGAZPI CITY – More than 1,170 participants from various government agencies, including the Commission on Elections, and Department of Interior and Local Government, and cycling enthusiasts joined the fun bike calling for a safe, peaceful local and national elections. The "Fun Bike para sa Ligtas at Mapayapang National and Local Election 2022" on Thursday was led by the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5). Maj. ACLOBAN CITY - Motorcycle drivers in the cities of Tacloban and Borongan are seeking fare adjustments due to the continuous fuel price hike. Aside from rise in fuel prices, adding up to the burden is the lack of commuters due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, according to tricycle drivers. In this city, motorized tricycle drivers are proposing an additional PHP6 from the present fare of PHP9. “Our petition is based on the fact that gasoline prices have been increasing week-on-week following the Ukraine invasion by Russian military forces. Gasoline prices have increased from PHP46 to PHP71 per liter, or an increase of almost 55 percent,” the Tacloban Unified Motorcab for Hire Drivers and Operators Association (TUMDOA) said in its petition sent to the city council on Friday.
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – After two years, the "Kaamulan" Festival in Bukidnon will resume from March 23 to April 23. In a phone interview on Saturday, provincial tourism officer Butch Anthony Melendez said the month-long festival will deviate from previous celebrations due to the continuous threat of Covid-19. Bukidnon is under Alert Level 2 at least until March 15, along with Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental in Northern Mindanao. "We only have limited activities, especially those that have physical distancing," Melendez said.
