BACOLOD CITY – Active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Negros Occidental have decreased by 93.23 percent within February, based on the series of data released by the Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) on Tuesday. Figures showed that on February 28, cases were down to only 233, from a high of 3,445 on February 1. On February 7, active cases still rose to 3,455, but significantly decreased to 2,089 by February 14 and further dropped to 947 by February 21. The latest PIMT report on Monday night showed the province only has seven new cases.
COTABATO CITY – More than 200 police trainees have undergone a 60-day Basic Internal Security Operation Course (BISOC) at the police regional headquarters in Parang, Maguindanao, a top police official here disclosed Wednesday. Brig. Gen. Arthur Cabalona, Police Regional Office – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-BARMM) director, said the training is designed to hone the trainees' abilities to be effective and skilled police officers through immediate action drills, land navigation, water search and rescue, among others. The training, which started Tuesday afternoon, is being facilitated by the police’s Regional Special Training Unit – BARMM.

TACLOBAN CITY – The Philippine National Police sent 235 junior police officers to Samar province on Tuesday for a peacekeeping mission ahead of the campaign period for local candidates. The PNP-Basic Internal Security Operations Course completers joined the send-off ceremony at their training site in Babatngon, Leyte for a special assignment in selected areas in Samar, according to a report sent by the PNP regional office here late Tuesday. “This send-off ceremony is a fitting testimony of our aspiration for a successful conduct of the national and local elections. Render your election duties and responsibilities with diligence especially where our services are much needed. We have certainly learned our lessons from the past elections. Now, we are prepared more than ever. Let us do our job well,” PNP Eastern Visayas Regional Director Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said in a statement.
 
Executive Order (EO) No. 2022-009 signed by Mayor Nelson Legacion said new policies must be implemented due to the continuous improvement of the city’s coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) situation. “Establishments and public transportation are allowed to operate at full capacity on-site and/or seating capacity, subject to adherence to minimum public health standards, including wearing of tightly fitted face masks,” the EO read. Fully vaccinated individuals aged 12 and older as well as partially vaccinated persons are allowed to enter enclosed establishments upon presentation of vaccination cards and identification cards.
