ILOILO CITY – Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday made a swift visit to Guimaras and wooed the support of the residents for the May 9, 2022 elections, in what she said is among many attempts on her part to return to the province. Robredo is said to be the first among the presidential candidates to visit and ask for the votes of the residents of this island province. In her message during the Leni-Kiko People’s Rally held at the capitol ground-covered gymnasium in the municipality of Jordan, she said  Guimaras is a special place for her, and it was one of the areas that she visited after winning as vice-president in 2016.
COTABATO CITY – An indigenous peoples (IPs) group in Sultan Kudarat province has become a recipient Monday of a livelihood package worth PHP300,000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Soccsksargen (DSWD-12). CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Bukidnon farmer Andrew Lingcoran is the new owner of one of 24 horses distributed by the Department of Agriculture Region 10 (DA-10) to indigenous peoples (IP) groups under the "Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K)" livelihood program. DA-10 also distributed 12 carabaos, 16 units each of plows and harrows, 40,000 abaca seedlings, 20 rolls of tarpaulin covers, and 20 rolls of nets, worth PHP2.1 million, in Impasugong town on February 23 and 24. “First time naming magkaroon ng kabayo kaya lubos ang aming pasasalamat sa DA sa paglaan ng atensyon sa tulad naming mga katutubo (It’s our first time to own a horse so we are really grateful to the DA for paying attention to the IP community),” Lingcoran said in a DA Facebook post on Saturday.
KORONADAL CITY – The city government here is now gearing for the operation of the recycling facilities that were donated by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), a local official said Monday. In a statement, Mayor Eliordo Ogena said the recycling facilities comprising a conveyor system, two plastic bottle crushers, a generator set, and plastic chair molders were installed at the city’s sanitary landfill in Barangay Paraiso. Dr. Carmela Centeno, UNIDO industrial development officer, who flew from Austria where they are based, led the turnover of the recycling facilities to the city officials over the weekend.
