ZAMBOANGA CITY – The 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division (ID), the premier command of the Philippine Army, on Monday received two new officers into its command. Maj. Karen Leleth Dipaling and Capt. Carlito Cariño Jr. were officially introduced after Monday’s flag raising ceremony at Camp Maj. Cesar Sang-an, home of the 1ID in Upper Pulacan, Labanga, Zamboanga del Sur. Brig. Gen. Jose Randolph Sino Cruz, 1ID assistant division commander, welcomed the two officers and pinned them the Tabak patch during a simple ceremony.
ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Health-Zamboanga Peninsula (DOH-9) on Tuesday reported 56,256 Covid-19 recoveries or 94.49 percent recovery rate since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. Dr. Jemuel Cristobal, DOH-9 medical officer, said the region has so far recorded a total of 59,533 Covid-19 infections, including 840 active cases and 2,437 deaths. Cristobal said 68.2 percent of the active cases are asymptomatic, 26.1 percent with mild symptoms, 4.4 percent moderate, 1.2 percent severe, and 0.1 percent critical. He said the data showed Zamboanga City has the highest recovered cases of 26,349 although it remains on top of the list with the most number of Covid-19 infections of 27,928. The city has also the highest mortality rate with 1,084 and has 495 active cases.

BALANGA CITY, Bataan Vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) of children five to 11 years old kicked off Monday here. Health workers from the City Health Office (CHO) clad in different superhero costumes and other attires welcomed and attended to the children. Children who are five to eight years old were vaccinated at the Patio Isadora of the Lou-is Resort while those nine to 11 were inoculated at the Walter Mart. No walk-in was allowed and vaccination was done by schedule.
BUTUAN CITY – The Philippine Rice Research Institute in Agusan (PhilRice-Agusan) of the Department of Agriculture (DA) on Tuesday recognized the contributions of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) program in the increase of rice production in the Caraga Region from 2019 to 2021. In a press briefing at the Go Hotel here, the PhilRice-Agusan highlighted the impacts of the RCEF program on the lives of rice farmers in the region in the last three years. PhilRice-Agusan covers the areas of Region 10 (Northern Mindanao), Region 11 (Davao Region), and Region 13 (Caraga).
