CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The City Health Office (CHO) here has intensified the monitoring of the first-generation close contacts of the second batch of people infected with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus disease 2019. In an online briefer Thursday, CHO medical officer Dr. Ted Yu Jr. said they have identified 121 first-generation close contacts of the recently reported 32 Omicron cases in the city. Yu said none of the close contacts, as of the moment, are experiencing Acute Respiratory Illnesses (ARI) or Influenza-Like Illnesses (ILI). Mayor Oscar Moreno stressed the need for intensive monitoring of close contacts even if it has been more than a month since they got infected.
BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan – The nine campuses of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) are now 70 percent prepared for the implementation of limited face-to-face (F2F) classes in the second quarter of this year. In an interview on Friday, PSU president Dr. Dexter Buted said the policies and guidelines for the limited F2F classes are all set but they are still in the process of purchasing the materials and equipment needed. “The budget for the limited F2F is at least PHP20 million to buy television sets, lapels, air purifiers, additional ventilation, health equipment materials, dividers, among others,” he said. CEBU CITY ­– Almost a year since the inoculation rollout against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) started here, Cebu province, including this capital city, has administered some 5.6 million vaccine doses, the Department of Health-Central Visayas (DOH-7) on Thursday said. DOH-7 data showed that a total of 2.8 million were administered as first dose, 2.6 million for second dose, and 232,358 doses for booster shots. Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, DOH-7 chief pathologist, said the number of doses administered in Metro Cebu areas accounts for 3.9 million doses or 70 percent of the over-all accomplishment in the island of Cebu.
