BUTUAN CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority in Caraga (PSA-13) on Friday urged the residents in the Caraga Region to support the scheduled 2021 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) Visit 2 from January 11 to 31, 2022. In a press statement Friday, Rosalina Apura, the PSA-13 director, said around 8,616 households will be involved in the conduct of the FIES Visit 2. “The FIES Visit 1 was already conducted last July 2021 with the first semester or January to June as the reference period. The second semester of 2021, or July to December will be the reference period for the FIES Visit 2 in January,” Apura said.
ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) reported that the New Year's Day revelry was generally peaceful here, though several violations of the firecracker ban have been noted. Col. Rexmel Reyes, ZCPO director, said they have not received a report of any untoward incident that took place in the city during the revelry. There are 11 police stations and two mobile force companies that are under the ZCPO. Reyes led the roving patrol together with the additional security forces from Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Zamboanga Peninsula, to assure the safety and security of the public while celebrating New Year’s Eve.

DUMAGUETE CITY – The first batch of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Negros Oriental whose sources of income were devastated by Typhoon Odette received livelihood aid from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Friday. DTI provincial director Nimfa Virtucio told the Philippine News Agency in an interview that the “Bangon Negosyo (Business Recovery)” kits are worth more than PHP1.1 million, simultaneously turned over in La Libertad and Bais City. Each livelihood kit is worth PHP8,000 and comes in the form of a Land Bank of the Philippines cash card that the beneficiary can use to purchase goods from DTI-accredited stores to help them revive or rebuild their lost businesses, such as sari-sari (retail) stores.
ZAMBOANGA CITY – A four-day free operation for children born with cleft lip and cleft palate is set to be held here next week, the City Health Office (CHO) announced. Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said in a statement Saturday the free operation for cleft lip and cleft palate will be from January 4 to 8 at the Labuan Public Hospital in Barangay Labuan. “Doctors of Smile Train and Marikina St. Vincent General Hospital will visit Zamboanga City for a four-day operation of these patients (cleft lip and cleft palate),” Miravite said. She said the activity will be in coordination with the city government, through the CHO, and the Department of Health-Zamboanga Peninsula (DOH-9).
