DAVAO CITY - Mayor Inday Sara Duterte is pushing for stronger local autonomy to boost the potential of local government units in responding to a crisis. In her recent talk during the 2021 Regional Planning of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) at the SMX Convention Center, Lanang, Davao City, Mayor Sara said that a stronger local autonomy is a viable tool to harness the potential of the local government units in addressing situations such as the coronavirus pandemic. “I have personally seen the value and the benefits of strengthening local autonomy, especially now at the age of Covid-19. Our local government units need the financial stability and operational capacity to sufficiently respond to crisis without sacrificing funding for priority programs and projects. DUMAGUETE CITY – The Diocesan Electoral Board (DEB) of the Diocese of Dumaguete will be fielding volunteers to observe the conduct of the Commission on Elections' (Comelec) mock polls on Dec. 29. DAVAO CITY - Individuals who have no valid ID can use a barangay clearance or barangay certificate to register for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). “If you don’t have a valid ID, Barangay Clearance is the last option for 18 years old and above and Barangay Certificate for 15 to 17 years old,” said the PhilSys team in Barangay Maa here in a recent social media post. The PhilSys team also reminded the registrants to attach a 2x2 picture to their barangay certificate. The barangay certificate and clearance should contain the registrant's complete name including the middle name, date of birth, and the complete address.
DAGUPAN CITY – The Department of Agriculture (DA) turned over on Saturday the PHP10.5-million technology business incubator project for oyster production to seven local government units (LGUs) in Pangasinan. The project beneficiaries are the towns of Anda, Bani, Bolinao, Binmaley, San Fabian, Sual, and Alaminos City. In an interview, DA Undersecretary for Agri-industrialization and Fisheries, Cheryl Marie Caballero, said the AquaNegosyo Technology Incubator project is a mechanism to assist organizations, cooperatives, or individuals engaged in the production of oysters.
