ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city health office (CHO) has extended the national vaccination drive here until Friday to cater to more residents. Maria Christine Lim, CHO health education and promotion officer, said Thursday the move was to encourage those who have yet to receive the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines. “We extended the national vaccination drive. It is being conducted alongside the regular inoculation activity,” Lim said. Data from the CHO released showed that a total of 87,935 individuals received their Covid-19 vaccines during the first three days of the national vaccination drive.
TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development has prepositioned 15,270 family food packs (FFPs) in Eastern Visayas for faster response especially during this typhoon season. Abelardo Bibat, DSWD Eastern Visayas regional information officer, said on Friday they are adding up more stocks in strategic locations in anticipation of more requests for assistance from local government units after disasters. Of the 15,270 food packs, some 9,576 are at the DSWD regional resource operations section warehouse in Palo, Leyte; 3,694 in Northern Samar; 1,000 in Eastern Samar; and 1,000 in Samar.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - Several medical organizations in the country on Thursday condemned the ambush-slay here of Dr. Raul Winston Andutan, medical director of the Maria Reyna-Xavier University Hospital (MRXUH). In a statement, the Council for Health and Development condemned "in the strongest possible terms the senseless killing" of Andutan, who was gunned down at the corner of 12th and 29th Streets in Barangay Nazareth.
