ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal- The Antipolo City government through the Office of the Mayor, City Environment and Waste Management Office (CEWMO) and the local Sangguniang Kabataan Federation Office will be holding a “Walk for a Cause” this Saturday, May 12.
The activity, with its theme “Isang Hakbang Para sa Kalikasan, Hinulugang Taktak ” aims to raise environmental awareness on the current condition of the Hinulugang Taktak falls. Environment volunteers, non-government organizations, city hall officials and employees, public officials and citizens from the city’s 16 barangays will be participating in the walk.
Registration starts at 4:30 am at the Sumulong Park. Participants will begin the walk from the park to Olalia Road owards to the City Market of Antipolo (Gate 2) going to SM Masinag through Marcos Highway.
The LGU also encourages participants to bring placards made of recycled materials with messages advocating environmental awareness as a means to disseminate information to the citizens of Antipolo.
Aside from the walk, May 12 also marks the opening of the Pitik Mulat Advocacy Photo Exhibit at SM Masinag where members of the Photography Guild of Antipolo, Samahan ng mga Litratista sa Rizal and the Camera Club of Antipolo will put on exhibit their photos of the Hinulugang Taktak falls and its current condition. Their works will be displayed from May 12-18 in order to further instil environmental awareness.
