DUMAGUETE CITY – Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in Negros Oriental continue to dip as daily infections are down to three digits. A report from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) on Friday, posted on the provincial government’s Facebook account, showed there are 820 active cases, 68 of which are new infections. ZAMBOANGA CITY – Lawmen have arrested three suspects, including a visual merchandiser, and seized some PHP373,000 worth of shabu in separate anti-drug operations here and in Zamboanga del Sur province, police officials said Tuesday. The arrested suspects were identified as Hassan Jehandal, 52; Alnijar Aripin, 30; and Jason Feguracion, 24, a product display merchandiser of an alcohol company. Maj. Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office (PRO) 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) information officer, said Jehandal was arrested by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit in an anti-drug operation around 3:55 p.m. Monday in Sitio Asinan, Barangay Kasanyangan here.
LEGAZPI CITY – Health care workers in the Bicol Region have started receiving coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine booster doses. Noemi Bron, Department of Health-Bicol (DOH-5) Education Promotion chief, said a total of 174,267 medical workers have completed their primary doses of the Covid-19 jab. "The eligible health workers may receive a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine as a booster dose at least six months after completion of their second dose and at least three months after the single-dose Janssen," she said in an interview on Friday. Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Sinovac, Gamaleya, Sputnik V, and AstraZeneca vaccines are all two-dose jabs.
