The municipality of Batad is located in the northern tip of Iloilo Province, about 120 kilometers from the City of Iloilo. Prior to its becoming a municipality on October 30, 1949, Batad was an arabal of Balasan. Batad is composed of 24 barangays, 19 are inland while 5 are coastal area.
